Windows 7 Release Candidate Available for Free
Windows 7 development is nearing completion. Microsoft has made the first "release candidate" of Windows 7 free for people to use until June of 2010. A release candidate is a nearly complete version of a piece of software that just needs minor tweaks. Reports all over the web are saying that the release candidate runs and feels like a final version. We don't reccomend installing this software on a work computer, but if you have a spare computer at home that you can play around with & don't mind if it has unforeseen problems, then it's definitely worth using. Kyocera Unveils Flexible Cell Phone |
Kyocera recently unveiled a kinetic energy-powered phone that is capable of folding up like a wallet. The phone consists of a soft, semi-rigid polymer skin surrounding a flexible low-energy OLED display. Shape memory allows the phone’s keys to pop up when in use and blend in with the surface during down time. The phone derives energy from human interaction, meaning no more dead batteries. Regretably, as a prototype concept phone, it's not yet in production, but the pictures of this phone are amazing. Click here for more info'.

Windows 7 Gets Virtual XP Mode
Microsoft appears to have been listening to everyone's gripes concerning Windows Vista. One of the major reasons that businesses haven't adopted Vista is because of those few older or custom applications that simply won't run in Vista. They have introduced a feature in Windows 7 called "Virtual Windows XP" which allows such software to run in a "virtual" Windows XP operating system. The programs will appear as they normally do; you click an icon to open them, they have their own window, etc. The process is seamless so you won't see Windows XP running anywhere which may lead to confusion. The feature will only be available in Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, and Corporate versions, which will come with a free, fully licensed, integrated copy of Windows XP Service Pack 3. This feature, along with lower system requirements than Vista, are making Windows 7 look far more promising than its predecessor. |
